Lay vs. Lie
● lay
英譯：to put something down carefully in a flat position；It must have an object；It is a regular verb（lay, laid, laid）
解釋：放下（一定要有受詞）
例句：
I laid the tray at the door five minutes ago.（五分鐘前，我把托盤放在門口了。）
Can I lay my coat over the chair?（我可以把外套放在椅子上嗎？）
● lie
英譯：to put yourself into a flat position；It is an irregular verb（lie, lay, lain, lying）；It doesn’t take an object.
解釋：躺下
例句：
I love to lie on a couch and read.（我喜歡躺在沙發上看書。）
He lay down and was asleep immediately.（他躺下後很快就睡著了。）
注：lie還可作「說謊」的意思，規則動詞三態：lie, lied, lied, lying
About last night, I lied to you.（關於昨晚的事，我對你撒了謊。）◇
