Czech Says Chinese Diplomats, Agents Tailed and Planned to Intimidate Taiwan's Vice President.
Chinese diplomats and agents tailed Taiwan's then-vice-president-elect Hsiao Bi-khim during her visit to Prague last year and plotted to intimidate Hsiao, Czech military intelligence confirmed on Thursday. Hsiao met with Czech Senate President Milos Vystrcil during a three day trip to the Czech Republic in March 2024, a few weeks before she assumed office, along with Taiwan's President Lai Ching-te.
The following month, Prague-based media Seznam Zpravy reported that a Chinese diplomat ran a red light when following Hsiao's convey through an intersection, nearly causing a crash. At the time, Czech's Foreign Ministry told the publication that it was looking into the incident, and that the Foreign Minister had decided to summon the Chinese ambassador.
