Less vs. Fewer

中譯：比較少的

☆less 後接「不可數名詞」

例：less food, less time, less money, or less attraction

☆fewer 後接「可數名詞」

例：fewer thoughts, fewer words, or fewer mistakes

例：Ten items or less（誤），應為 Ten items or fewer（正確）

例：Less than 30 children each year develop the disease.（誤），應為 Fewer than 30 children each year develop the disease.（正確）

另外，less常與測量出的時間、距離、金錢的數字連用，雖然這些單位都是（可數的）複數。

例：Their marriage lasted less than two years. (time)

例：Costco is less than 2 kilometers away from here. (distance)

例：We paid the restaurant less than 100 NT dollars. (money)◇
