Taiwan Opens Military Drone Campus, Breaks Ground on Drone Industrial Park

Taiwan opened a new military drone research, testing, and production campus and broke ground on an adjacent industrial park on Sept. 28, as the self-governed island moves to expand its domestic unmanned-aircraft industry and defense supply chain.

President Lai Ching-te presided over both ceremonies in Chiayi County. The newly opened Minxiong campus of Taiwan's National Chung-Shan Institute of Science and Technology (NCSIST) will conduct research, testing, verification, and production of military-grade drones, according to Taiwan's Presidential Office.

NCSIST invested more than NT$1.1 billion ($35 million) in the campus, including facilities for drone systems integration and testing, research, and development, and related infrastructure.

Across from the campus, Taiwan's central government is investing nearly NT$6.9 billion ($220 million) in an aerospace and drone industrial park scheduled for completion in 2028. Plans call for production facilities, laboratory equipment, research space, and a drone test-flight field, with the government seeking to attract domestic and foreign companies to the park.

臺灣無人機產業園區動土 軍用無人機園區啟用 

9月28日，臺灣啟用了一座全新軍用無人機園區，進行研發、測試與生產，也在毗鄰的產業園區舉行動土儀式，此舉標誌著該自治島國正致力於擴展其國內無人機產業及國防供應鏈。

總統賴清德在嘉義縣主持這兩場儀式。據臺灣總統辦公室表示，臺灣國立中山科學研究院（簡稱中科院，NCSIST）全新啟用的民雄院區，將負責軍用級無人機的研究、測試、驗證及生產。

中科院在該院區（民雄院區）投資逾11億新臺幣（約3,500萬美元），包含無人機系統整合與測試設備、研究與開發設備，以及相關基礎建設。

在院區對面，臺灣中央政府正投入近69億新臺幣（2.2億美元），興建一座預計2028年完工的航太與無人機產業園區。園區規劃包含生產設施、實驗室設備、研究空間及無人機試飛場，政府希望藉此吸引國內外企業進駐園區。
